Hey y’aaall! It’s been a while since I last blogged, I knooow sheesh! Life fiiiinally slowed down a bit, enough for me to get back to the blog and creating. What’s been up with me??? Well, if you follow me on any of the social media platforms like instagram or facebook, you may have seen that I just recently moved, literally like a week ago. Yep I’m officially ITP (inside the perimeter) for the non Atlantans. Which means after 5 long years, no more frustrating commutes in this crazy ass Atlanta traffic. Oooouuu thank ya laaawd!
But on to even more exciting updates. In the midst of all of the moving craziness, I made time to apply to this season of Project Runway! Yep Project Runway! Two and a half weeks of busting my butt to meet an April deadline. Honestly, had anyone suggested that I tryout a few years ago (and they did lol), I wouldn’t have been interested. But what a difference a few years make right, because here I was, shooting my shot. But this time was different. The confidence I had was different. “I reeeaally think I can do this!!!!,” is what I told myself immediately after skimming the guidelines in the submission packet.
After seeing the post on instagram, I literally had two and a half weeks to get my shit together! My life was in true go mode fashion, and I honestly can’t say it didn’t feel good. I was in the moment, living with no regrets, putting in the work, letting the universe do the rest. So with only a few weeks of preparation, the help and moral support of some of my super awesome friends and family who were on board as soon as I said “this is what I wanted to do,” they actually helped me pull it together. But of course, only during and after a few emotional breakdowns, a traffic ticket, and a few other events that I think I’ll spare you from. Lol. It’s only right though, that life keeps happening to you as you journey through to make a new one. Right? *Shrugs*
But seriously a super big shout out to my friends. Like my girl Toya, who so unselfishly volunteered to be my fit model at the very last minute, all while warring through a terrible ass cold. Ugh! And I can’t forget her fiance, Taji, an all around dope ass photographer who was immediately on board no questions asked, to capture my pieces, edit the shots, and shoot my audition video. Yep, I had to submit a 5 minute audition video about myself y’all. Can we say super duper nervous! But OMG I love these two! They thugged it out with me until the early morning. Oh, and you can check out more work from Taji here!
Any who, unfortunately I wasn’t chosen to move forward to the next round, in which I think I was a little more disappointed than I expected. Like for real, I kinda at least thought I would land the in person interview. But nonetheless, I’m super fucking proud of myself, like super proud!! I can look back and say if nothing else, I shot my best shot, and that’s all that matters. No regrets here! None!
Check out a few of the pieces I submitted below with my 100 question application. Yes! 100 questions! Geez.
Love you guys and as always I want to hear from you so do me a favor and comment below.
Until next time,
